Did your New Year come in with a bang? Most likely not. Especially if you sat around and did nothing that would culminate into something different in the New Year.

Our lives were not going to magically change at the stroke of midnight! Sure some fireworks may have been set off. The skies lit up and there was jubilance in the air. But what changed in your life? Were you doing something different last year to bring something different into the new year?

I started for a little while towards the end of September, picked up a little steam in October and went full blast all the way through November 30th. Then the fire turned into a fizzle. My excuse. The holidays are coming up. So I used that excuse to overeat, not exercise, and not finish projects I had started.

My New Year did start with a bang. But not with the bang I thought it would be. In fact, I wasn’t expecting a bang at all, because I knew I hadn’t done anything to cause a bang.

But I did find myself in an unfortunate situation (it’s much better now) that caused me to wake up and realize it is time to move on. That big argument which I did not see coming was the catalyst for me to move away from the source, get myself together so I can follow my path.

So as I look back, the holidays did not keep me from moving forward.

It was the load that I carried from the past into the future.

Wake up!

Go ahead. Set it Off!!!

Let it go. Let it go. Let it go.

Light self-doubt on fire. Don’t turn back. Don’t look for it and surely don’t think about it.

Burn your past and keep it moving. Let today be the first day of the rest of  your life.

If you are still breathing, can think, and can get up of your backside, then you can do whatever you want to do.

Shake those haters off. Tell the negative people to get out of your way. Tell stress to take a leap.

Walk away from arguments. Hang up the phone to that nonsense that people are talking about on the other end.

Do not waste your breath trying to say what you think other people need to hear to change. THEY WILL NOT CHANGE BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING TO THEM OR BECAUSE YOU WANT THEM TO.

Stop doing stuff with or for other people so they can feel good while you are miserable doing it.

Set that negative stuff on fire and walk away.

Let your NO, be NO. And that should be your final answer!

When you are in a battle, you have two choices; stay and fight or tuck tail and run.

You can be standing on firm, solid ground and still feel like it is going to fall from under you. The enemies that you fight against can be people, your thoughts, what you think  other people  are thinking about you (and you probably are not on their mind at all), your failures (actually lessons learned),  and just plain old self pity!

And the dead bodies that are all around your feet that you carefully step over, are actually your unfulfilled goals. Suddenly, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. You have all of your ideas and dreams floating around in your head, but nothing is sticking. You look out in front of  you as far as you can see. And. You. See. Nothing.

You have to make a decision right now to fight for what you believe in your heart that you know you are supposed to be doing. It does not matter how long you have to fight. Take each battle one at a time. If it is for you, fight the battle.

If you know it is not for you and someone is trying to convince you to do something because it will either benefit them or  keep you in their eyesight (because of their insecurity), tuck tail and run. Run. Fast.

Learn to say no without explaining why when it comes to you focusing on what you need to do. People who are not goal oriented do not always fit into your daily plans. They will suck the life out of you, stress you out and cause you to unconsciously abandon your plan.

Do what I do and have a “runaway weekend.” I run away from home!

I go to a hotel for a weekend and just write. No one to drop by because no one knows exactly where I am. But I do check in with my family so they do not worry. I encourage you try this. We all need protected time for our projects, our thoughts, and our peace of mind.

Fight the battles that are yours to fight.

Do not fight anyone else’s battle.

Please don’t let your path be a dirt road!

You have to take control of your negative thoughts and lazy ways. Sure, people can give you plenty of pep talks. But when they are gone, you are the only person that is with yourself all day, all night, all the time. Your mind and body have to be in sync to start the fire just like two sticks rubbing together will start a fire, or when a match rubs against the rough side of a matchbox, or when a finger pushes down on a lighter.

Make a Move


Change the negative constant in your life, and your life will change. Watching hours of television every day when you should  be doing something else is a negative activity. While watching shows most people tell themselves they should be doing something else. And there is nothing stopping them. Make a conscious effort as soon as you realize that  you need to be doing something . Get up and do it right at that moment even if it is for a few moments. If you get stressed because you are exercising everyday but not losing weight as fast as the next person or at the rate you want to, change the reason why you are doing it. But don’t lose focus of the weight loss. Exercise because you want to feel good, or have an easier time getting off the floor, or able to touch your toes or because it lowers your stress level.  Exercise so you won’t be out of breath when you walk and talk at the same time. Change the why and you will find it easier to reach your original goal for exercising.
